- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s bubbly.
- Gradually stir in the flour and salt until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Shape the dough into loaves and place them in greased loaf pans.
- Let them rise for another 30 minutes, then pop them in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool them on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
You can double the recipe for gatherings or add herbs and cheese for added flavor.
