- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the sliced smoked sausage and cook over medium heat until browned.
- Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic, sautéing until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the Cajun seasoning and mix well.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cooked pasta and shredded cheese, stirring until the cheese has melted and everything is well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
For extra heat, add cayenne pepper. You can use chicken, turkey, or pork sausage. Feel free to add spinach or zucchini.
