Description

Deliciously soft and slightly tangy cream cheese sugar cookies that hold their shape well for decorating.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until it’s all blended beautifully.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mix to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a prettier presentation, dust with powdered sugar or frost with vanilla glaze. They can also be made into sandwich cookies with jam.
