Description
Buttery, flaky, and cheesy, these crispy sourdough cheese twists are the ultimate way to turn discard into a crowd-pleasing snack.
Ingredients
1 cup sourdough discard (unfed)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
4 tbsp cold butter, cubed
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp paprika or cayenne (optional)
1–2 tbsp milk or water (as needed for dough)
Optional: rosemary, thyme, or everything bagel seasoning for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
3. Cut in cold butter with your fingers or a pastry cutter until crumbly.
4. Mix in cheddar cheese, then add sourdough discard and just enough milk to bring it together into a soft dough.
5. Roll dough into a thin rectangle (~⅛ inch thick). Cut into strips about ½–¾ inch wide.
6. Twist each strip gently and place on the baking sheet.
7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden, crisp, and cheesy!
Notes
