Description

A rich and gooey cake that replicates the flavors of classic turtle candies with layers of caramel, chocolate, and pecans.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (devil’s food is perfect)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, plus a handful for topping
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. Mix the cake mix, eggs, milk, and oil in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Stir in half of the chocolate chips and pecans.
  4. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Poke holes in the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  6. Pour caramel sauce over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
  7. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips and pecans on top.
  8. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For extra indulgence, drizzle more warmed caramel before serving. A pinch of salt on top can balance the sweetness.
