Easy Soft Sourdough Dinner Rolls (Super Fluffy)

Description

These soft and fluffy sourdough dinner rolls are perfect for family meals and pair wonderfully with soups. They are easy to make and have a tender crust that stays fluffy for days.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 400 grams bread flour (about 3 1/3 cups)
  • 100 grams active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup milk (about 250 grams)
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter (27 grams)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (optional, for brushing on top)

Instructions

  1. Combine the bread flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add in the bubbly sourdough starter and warm milk. Mix until it comes together!
  3. Toss in the butter and knead the dough until smooth (about 10 minutes).
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm spot until it doubles (about 1 to 2 hours).
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into small rolls.
  6. Place them in a greased pan, cover, and let rise again for another hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter (if desired).
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving!

Notes

Use an active sourdough starter for the best results. Warm the milk slightly to be cozy, but not hot. Don’t rush the rises for fluffy rolls.
