Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Zest of 1 orange
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, zest, and juice together.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover it with a towel and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Cut the dough into strips. Twist each strip and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm twists.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or freeze tightly wrapped for longer storage.
