Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for sautéing

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Preheat the oven or a broiler.
  5. Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and fill each with the beef and vegetable mixture.
  6. Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone cheese.
  7. Broil in the oven for about 2-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your Philly cheesesteaks!

Notes

For extra flavor, sauté some minced garlic with the onions and peppers. Consider using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
