Description

Delicious homemade pop tarts filled with a warm cinnamon brown sugar mixture, easy to make using storebought pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 9-inch pie crusts (storebought)
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 12 tbsp butter (melted, for filling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for icing)
  • 1 tbsp warm water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter in a bowl until it resembles slightly damp sand. Adjust with more melted butter if needed.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place one pie crust on it.
  4. Brush the crust with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
  5. Spread the filling on top of the crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge, and press gently to secure.
  6. Place the second crust on top, pressing the edges together, and crimp with a fork to seal.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, rotating the pan halfway through if necessary.
  8. Cool for 1 hour before frosting.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and warm water until smooth, then drizzle over cooled pop tarts.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. These pop tarts pair well with coffee or milk.
