Description

Delightful mini heart-shaped galettes filled with fresh strawberries, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 45 tablespoons ice-cold water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the ice-cold water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, mix the strawberries with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl, and let sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8-inch thick and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Spoon the strawberry mixture into the center of each heart, fold the edges over the filling, and brush the edges with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor. These galettes can be served with ice cream or whipped cream.
