Ingredients

- 4 slices rye bread
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions
- Form the ground beef into patties and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties until juicy and browned.
- Remove the patties and sauté the sliced onion in the same skillet until caramelized.
- Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
- Assemble the sandwich with a beef patty, Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions between two slices of buttered rye bread.
- Grill the sandwich in the skillet until crispy and golden on both sides, and the cheese is melted.
- Cut the patty melt in half and serve.
