Description

A comforting patty melt featuring juicy beef patties, gooey Swiss cheese, and sweet caramelized onions between crispy rye bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Form the ground beef into patties and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties until juicy and browned.
  3. Remove the patties and sauté the sliced onion in the same skillet until caramelized.
  4. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
  5. Assemble the sandwich with a beef patty, Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions between two slices of buttered rye bread.
  6. Grill the sandwich in the skillet until crispy and golden on both sides, and the cheese is melted.
  7. Cut the patty melt in half and serve.
