Quick Sourdough Cheesy Breadsticks are fast, cheesy, and comforting, using sourdough starter or discard to create warm, cheesy breadsticks ready for dipping or enjoying as a cozy snack.
Ingredients
250g bread flour
150g active sourdough starter or discard
100g water
1 tbsp olive oil
5g salt
100g shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
Herbs like rosemary or thyme (optional)
Instructions
1. Mix flour, water, and starter in a bowl until shaggy. Rest for 30 minutes.
2. Add salt, olive oil, and garlic powder, mixing until combined.
3. Fold in shredded cheese and herbs gently.
4. Cover and let rest for 30-45 minutes.
5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
6. Divide dough into strips and twist or shape into breadsticks.
7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and brush tops with olive oil.
8. Optional: Sprinkle extra cheese on top.
9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden and cheesy.
10. Cool slightly before serving with your favorite dips.
Notes
Use any cheese you enjoy, but sharp cheddar or parmesan add great flavor.
For a crispier top, broil breadsticks for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking.
Pairs well with soups, salads, or marinara for dipping.
