Description

Soft and slightly chocolatey red velvet cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Milk (for thinning frosting if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the milk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms. Do not overmix.
  5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface. Spread with softened cream cheese and roll into a log.
  6. Cut the log into even slices and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until fluffy and baked through.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the frosting. Add a splash of milk if you want a looser glaze.
  9. Drizzle the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with extra powdered sugar and coffee. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
