- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Sea salt (for sprinkling)
- Optional: cinnamon and sugar (for sweet version)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add warm water until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth and soft.
- Divide the dough into small balls, about one inch in size.
- Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add in the baking soda.
- Boil each dough ball for about 30 seconds, then place them on a baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush it over each pretzel bite. Sprinkle sea salt on top.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
These pretzel bites are best served warm and pair well with mustard or cheese sauce. For a sweet version, toss in cinnamon and sugar after baking.
