A beautiful and tangy sourdough wreath bread perfect for brunch, adorned with your choice of toppings.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: raspberries, cheese, or toppings of choice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and butter.
- Gradually add the flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long rope and then braid them together to form a wreath shape.
- Place the wreath on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the wreath with beaten egg and sprinkle with desired toppings.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool before serving.
Notes
Use an active sourdough starter for best results. Store in a paper bag or wrapped in a clean towel for up to 2 days.
