Description

A simple, comforting dish of cabbage sautéed with crispy bacon and sweet onions, perfect as a side or main.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped
  • 4 slices of bacon, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for spice

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove the crispy bacon from the pan and set it aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  3. Add the chopped onions to the skillet and sauté until soft and fragrant, about a few minutes.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring occasionally, and let it soften for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Stir in the crispy bacon and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, mixing everything well. Serve hot.

Notes

You can customize this dish by adding garlic, carrots, or bell peppers for extra flavor and texture. Swap bacon for smoked sausage for a different profile.
