Description

A quick and satisfying stir-fry bowl filled with garlicky, spicy flavors, perfect for breakfast or light dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1/2 zucchini, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup steamed white rice

Instructions

  1. Prep the vegetables: wash and chop them. Mince both cloves of garlic. Measure the sauces and seasonings.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil and 2 cloves minced garlic. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef. Cook and break it into small pieces until browned.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, chili flakes, and brown sugar. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  5. In another pan, heat olive oil and sauté the other 2 cloves of garlic for 30 seconds. Add mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add broccoli, zucchini, and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp. Add soy sauce and toss.
  7. To serve, spoon hot steamed rice into bowls. Arrange beef and veggies beside or on top of the rice. Spoon extra sauce over rice for more flavor.

Notes

Add a soft fried egg on top for extra richness. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or green onions for color.
