  • 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend for gluten-free option)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (Nutty Delight)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (dark, milk, or white)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, cayenne, or espresso powder (Spiced Brownies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a medium bowl. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  3. Fold in the sourdough starter and mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and fold until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
