Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
- 2 ounces unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Whisk together 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Melt the butter and milk together in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Pour the warm liquid into the dry mix and add the eggs, stirring until combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour and mix for about two minutes until soft dough forms.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for the filling while dough rises.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, then spread with melted butter and sprinkle the sugar mixture on top.
- Cut the dough into strips, stack them, and layer in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for about 20-30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Delicious with cream cheese or icing. Store in an airtight container.
