Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter (active and bubbly)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Add the sourdough starter, egg, and vanilla extract to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in chopped nuts and chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage. Use an active and bubbly sourdough starter for best results.
