- 1 cup sourdough starter (active)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- Additional sugar for coating
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, and egg in a mixing bowl and whisk well.
- Mix the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients gradually until a dough forms. Use a spatula if needed.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then shape it into a ball.
- Let it rise in a greased bowl, covered, for about 60-120 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough gently and cut into strips.
- Twist each strip and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
- Cool slightly and roll in additional sugar before serving.
Notes
Ensure your sourdough starter is active for the best rise. Optionally add vanilla extract for extra flavor.
