Description

A classic Italian appetizer featuring fresh tomatoes and basil on toasted bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette or crusty bread
  • 2 cups fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush the slices with olive oil and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
  4. Combine the diced tomatoes, basil, minced garlic, some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl and give it a good mix!
  5. Top each toasted slice of bread with the tomato mixture.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best texture, toast the bread just before serving. Leftovers can be stored separately.
