Description

Delightful baked sourdough doughnuts coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.


Ingredients

  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 100ml milk
  • 70g granulated sugar
  • 50g sourdough discard
  • 30g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200g granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g unsalted butter (for coating, melted)

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  2. Whisk together the milk, sourdough discard, sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until combined.
  3. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently.
  4. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and grease your doughnut pan.
  5. Scoop in the batter and fill evenly.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until puffed up.
  7. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
  8. Brush warm doughnuts with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar.

Notes

These doughnuts are best enjoyed warm with coffee or tea. Experiment with toppings!
