Delightful baked sourdough doughnuts coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.
Ingredients

- 100g all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- A pinch of ground nutmeg
- 100ml milk
- 70g granulated sugar
- 50g sourdough discard
- 30g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200g granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 50g unsalted butter (for coating, melted)
Instructions
- Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Whisk together the milk, sourdough discard, sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until combined.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and grease your doughnut pan.
- Scoop in the batter and fill evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until puffed up.
- Cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
- Brush warm doughnuts with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar.
Notes
These doughnuts are best enjoyed warm with coffee or tea. Experiment with toppings!
