Delicious and easy-to-make breadsticks using sourdough discard, perfect alongside soups and salads.
Ingredients

- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- Extra salt for topping
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients.
- Mix the warm water, instant yeast, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Add the flour, sourdough discard, and salt, stirring well.
- Gradually add the melted butter and continue mixing until you have a shaggy dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 90 minutes.
- Divide the risen dough into 10 pieces and roll each into thin ropes.
- Lay the ropes on parchment-lined baking sheets and cover them to rise for another hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Brush the dough ropes with melted butter and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Melt remaining butter and mix in parsley, garlic powder, and salt.
- Brush the baked breadsticks with the garlic butter mixture and serve warm.
Notes
Best served warm. Can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for 1-2 days or frozen for up to a month.
